Sonoma Verde Walkers can meet at the Amenity Center to take a walk through our community, get some exercise and meet your neighbors.

It's our Annual Independence Event here at Sonoma Verde. Let's celebrate America with fun, food, family, friends and fireworks! Starting at 5pm we will have food trucks available and they will be on property until roughly 9am or until they run out of product. We will also have entertainment, music, games and much more. At the end of the evening we will sit back and watch a fireworks show. Bring your chairs and blankets and get ready to celebrate America's Birthday!

The Fourth of July - also known as Independence Day or July 4th - has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2, 1776, the continental Congress voted in favor of Independence and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues.

If you have a preschooler, you are invited to join us for "Toddler Time" at the Amenity Center. We will sing songs, have a story time, color a picture and have a snack.   A parent must be in attendance with the preschooler.   Please bring your Amenity Access Card with you so you can access the entrance gate.

Join this monthly workshop for kids ages 4-10. We will work together on an activity as we spend time with friends. A parent must be present with attendees to participate. Make sure and bring your Amenity Access Card to get in the gate.

Head over to the Amenity Center for dinner and a movie right here in Sonoma Verde. The food truck should arrive and start serving by 5:30pm and the movie will begin a dusk. This month's movie is Minions - The Rise of Gru. "In the 1970's, young Gru tries to join a group of supervillains called the Vicious 6 after they oust their leader, the legendary fighter Wild Knuckles. When the interview turns disastrous, Gru and his Minions go on the run with the Vicious 6 hot on their tails. Luckily, he finds an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles himself and soon discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends."

Join your neighbors for a resident Happy Hour at Rosini Vineyards on the 4th Thursday of each month. Rosini Vineyards has wine, drinks and food to choose from and can be ordered at the bar when you arrive.   No registration required, just show up and enjoy time with friends in the community.

World Friendship Day, also known as International Day of Friendship takes place on July 30th each year. The original idea of a day of friendship came from Hallmark cards in the 1930's. Originally celebrated on August 2nd, the day was largely viewed cynically by the public as a money making exercise. Sales of friendship day cards did not take off in Europe and by the mid-1940's the day had faded in to obscurity in the U.S. The idea of a day to honor friendship was, however, adopted by a number of countries in Asia where it remained a poplar custom to reserve a day for celebrating friendships and the exchange of gifts between friends.

 

Today and every day, we all value the true friendships that we make throughout our lives. Friends do come and go, but those that we bond best with tend to stick around. The Staff and Board of Directors for the Sonoma Verde Community would like to say thank you for your friendship and support as we work together to build an awesome and friendly community right here in the heart of Rockwall, Texas!
